A Very Fond and Very Sad Farewell to Stan Charnofsky

I first met Stan through one of his very happy former students. She told me about Stan, and about his writing group, of which she had been a member. I joined the group, and just had a wonderful time meeting Stan and his fellow authors, and sharing my writing as they shared theirs. When Dave and I began publishing books I knew right away that I wanted to publish Stan’s cozy mystery series, which we had worked on in his writing group.

Stan was a baseball player, and a twin, and he and his twin once played for the Yankees.

That’s Stan with the extra large smile. He was unfailingly good-natured.

There are many articles where you can find out about Stan.

And, if you’re interested, you can see me talk about Stan in a very clumsy way here.

Stan was one of the more delightful humans I have known in my life, and certainly the easiest author to work with. We love you all, authors, but Stan was the most Zen about his writing, and the whole process. 🙂

Our thanks to Great Escape Book Tours for taking Stan on tour twice.

Stan was a huge fan of butterflies, and he often was gifted butterflies and wore butterflies. I know his children and grandchildren were very close with him, as were the majority of his former students. This is a man who is mightily missed.

Dave and I wish Stan very well on his next journey, his next metamorphosis. He was a lovely human, a delight to know.

And I know, fellow authors, if Stan could leave you with one message it would be the same one that I am often communicating to the authors I meet: don’t die with your story. So many people enjoyed Stan’s books. So many people will enjoy yours too.

Safe travels to you, Stan: may you find lots of blooming milkweed for your journey. We love you and miss you. xoxo
