1:1 Coaching sessions

Elevate your writing, gain confidence, enhance your unique style, and finish your book this year!

DIANNE PEARCE, MA, MFA

Current Words is pleased to offer 1:1 coaching sessions for writers by founder Dianne Pearce, MA, MFA. As your writing coach, Dianne will serve as your professional guide, collaborating directly with you to enhance your skills and complete a book that captures readers.

Drawing from substantial experience in the publishing industry as a writer, editor, and publisher, and over twenty years teaching writing at the college level, Dianne has the collective skills and experience to deliver a top-notch mentorship experience no matter how far along you are in your writing journey. Whether you’re a first-time memoirist eager to share personal stories, or an established author aiming to break into the market with a compelling novel, Dianne’s coaching can empower you to confidently achieve your goals, and to finally finish that book!

While practice and reading can improve anyone’s writing, becoming an exceptional writer can be a challenging journey without access to the education, community, and mentorship often associated with traditional two-year university MFA programs. As your writing coach, Dianne provides an excellent alternative to the conventional academic path to becoming a writer. Consider it an apprenticeship in creative writing, where you work on creating while acquiring new skills from a seasoned professional without paying for and spending the time on a degree you don’t need.

Dianne will collaborate with you to shape your ideas, set achievable goals, offer candid feedback on your progress, and equip you with the resources, education, and motivation needed to elevate your writing. Does writing your book sometimes grind, or feel like eating leftovers? Those are clues that something isn’t working, for you, and therefore the book. Let’s figure out where the sticky spots are and juice your practice so you look forward to working on your book, and complete it! Dianne’s coaching clients typically finish their books in less than one year. Can you imagine yourself with a novel with your name on it, this time next year?

Approach and technique

Dianne brings a unique and afforable approach to coaching writers: she answers the why. Knowing why something does or doesn’t work is key in your writing journey. It’s essential because it helps you to gain an awareness of your own opportunities to improve your work.

In each 60-minute video-call session, Dianne will engage in discussions about your needs, help develop your ideas, and foster concepts in a creative environment. She will provide guidance and motivation as you develop and draft your project. You will receive practical feedback on your writing. Dianne will help you stay accountable, stay on track, and enjoy writing your book. Her goal is not to edit your manuscript but to provide critical guidance to prepare it for the final editing stages. Coaching can be compared to behavioral therap in that you and Dianne will look for patterns in your writing, writing habits, thoughts about your writing ability, plots, etc., and strive to increase the ones you find valuable, while managing the ones you find limiting and setting goals that you can reach.

Trust and experience

Dianne has collaborated with dozens of writers in roles including editor, coach, co-author, and publisher. She’s helped new and experienced writers to hone their mastery of the writing craft, she is intimately familiar with today’s competitive publishing market, and she’s fun to hang out with.

With years of industry experience, Dianne understands what it takes to create a commercially successful book — the kind that both publishers and readers are eager to embrace.

Whether your aim is to self-publish, secure a book deal, or just elevate your writing skills, Dianne is here get you to the finish line.
