LULU: I know a bad idea when I see one, and Tanner Baxter is at the top of the list. After being abandoned two days shy of my dream wedding, to my dream man, I don’t have the bandwidth to deal with a panty-dropping playboy. No matter how gorgeous, how funny or how famous he is, after the loss I’ve endured, I will never give my heart away again. I am bulletproof.

TANNER: I know a good idea when I see one, and Lulu O’Conner is at the top of the list. Gorgeous, smart and funny, she’s going to be mine, even if it’s just for one night. However, she’s proving to be a much harder opponent than I expected. Her “just friends” proclamation is like waving a red flag in front of a bull. I’m all in until I get the girl.

About the Author:

Theodora Williams says it was never her childhood dream to become a writer. “As a matter of fact, I had one dream, and one dream only, and that, my friends, was to eat frosting out of the can and not get in trouble for it. This was the dream that propelled me into adulthood.”

What really started Theodora on this adventure was her fervent love of romance novels. That, and friends who challenged her to write one, “…which seemed like a great idea six beers in. It has now become my passion project.”

When Theodora’s not sitting on her front porch writing, you can find her happily working with junior high kids who need a little extra guidance and TLC. “They make me laugh every day.”

Just Friends ~ Theodora Williams

When is it love, and when is a connection friendship alone? That’s one of the questions Theodora Williams tackles in Just Friends, a novel about Lulu, who is on the cusp of getting married.

Williams employs the first person to bring immediacy to and add a personal touch to Lulu’s evolving life as she discovers that her childhood friend and love may not be the right person for her … two days before their marriage.

An unexpected wry sense of humor emerges quickly as Lulu navigates a bombshell:

As chapters begin to alternate between Lulu and Tanner’s perceptions (appropriately titled so that readers aren’t lost), the ideal of marriage begins to fade for Lulu even as Tanner becomes captivated by its apparent impossibility in this particular relationship:

As Tanner and Lulu build a life together, the plot captures many intriguing moments as each character grows in response to expanded relationship boundaries.

Williams gathers all these issues, ideals, and possibilities into a neat package called Just Friends, presenting it as a gift to readers seeking a quirky story of marriage, almost-marriage, friendship, and everything that lies in between.

Libraries seeking a romance novel replete with thought-provoking moments of growth will find Just Friends a fine recommendation for either beach readers or book clubs seeking discussion points about love, living together, and growing both separately and as a couple.
