Your Words Matter. We Help Them Shine.
At Current Words Publishing (CWP), our approach to editing is rooted in respect for the writer’s voice and vision. We do not believe in one-size-fits-all editing. Whether your manuscript is a sweeping epic, a tightly structured memoir, or a collection of poems, we tailor our feedback to suit your style, your goals, and your intended audience.
Developmental editing focuses on the big picture, including structure, pacing, tone, character arcs, and overall manuscript organization. Copyediting focuses on clarity, grammar, consistency, readability, and flow. Every edit from Current Words Publishing includes developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading, along with explanatory margin notes and a written evaluation. Our goal is always the same: to elevate your work without diluting what makes it uniquely yours.
Reliable. Experienced. Invested in Your Success.
Editing That Builds Better Writers
Unlike editors who simply correct pages and move on, Current Words takes a personal interest in every manuscript we edit. Our goal is not merely to mark up pages, but to provide clear, instructive feedback that helps you understand the reasoning behind each suggestion, allowing you to grow as a writer with every revision.
Our editors have collectively worked on more than five million words and counting. We have the experience, knowledge, and reliability to help guide your manuscript from draft to publication.
We believe editing works best as a collaboration. That’s why we establish clear schedules and maintain regular communication throughout the process. Rather than disappearing for months and returning a manuscript without discussion, we provide opportunities for questions, feedback, and ongoing conversation as the edit progresses.
While many of our clients go on to publish with us, we’re equally committed to those pursuing traditional or self-publishing paths. No matter which path you choose, we provide honest, constructive, and thoughtful feedback with your long-term success in mind. Whether we’re helping you shape your story from the ground up or fine-tuning your final draft, we consider it a privilege to be part of your creative journey.
Authors pursuing traditional publishing also receive a complimentary query letter review as part of the editing process.
Full-service editing
You shouldn’t have to hire multiple editors or navigate a confusing menu of services to receive a professional edit. At Current Words Publishing, we offer a comprehensive editing package designed to address the full range of issues most manuscripts face.
If your manuscript is complete and ready for editing, we provide developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading for a flat rate of 3 cents per word. Every edit includes explanatory margin notes, a written evaluation, two versions of your manuscript, Zoom consultations, and ongoing collaboration throughout the process.
There are no hidden fees, surprise charges, or additional services you need to purchase. Our goal is to provide thorough, professional feedback that strengthens your manuscript while helping you grow as a writer.
This service is ideal for fiction, nonfiction, memoir, and other completed manuscripts that are ready for a comprehensive review and polish.
The Writing Path
For writers who are still drafting, revising, or simply prefer a more gradual approach, we offer The Writing Path, a flexible monthly editing program starting at $125 for 5,000 words of professional developmental editing and copyediting.
Whether you’re working on short stories, a novel, memoir, or personal essays, The Writing Path provides consistent, high-quality feedback without requiring you to complete your entire manuscript before receiving guidance. Each submission includes explanatory margin notes, two versions of your file, Zoom consultations, and ongoing collaboration throughout the process.
Need more than one submission per month? No problem. You set the pace and word count, and we’ll work with you to create a schedule that fits your goals.
The Writing Path is an excellent way to stay accountable, strengthen your craft in real time, and make steady progress toward a completed manuscript.
All editing clients also receive access to our monthly marketing meetings and our private Google Drive resource library, which includes publishing, marketing, and promotional resources for authors.
